So I've been thinking about gauging my ears for a long time but I'm a cheap (and poor) bastard so it hasn't happened. I'm thinking of just going up to a 10g which will be easy since I'm already at a 16g.
Either way, this got me thinking about facial piercings. I don't want any facial piercings but I do find it interesting how the right or wrong facial piercing can really affect the way someone looks hence I formulated theories on what types of faces can work with what types of facial piercings. This particular set of theories only works on chicks. I might come up with a dude one later.
I remember once a friend of mine said she wanted to pierce her eyebrow and I responded with, "No, you'll ruin your face." That isn't to say that eyebrow piercings are bad or that I don't like them, it just wouldn't have worked for her in particular.
First off, Ears and Tongue are fine on everyone. They don't affect the way your face itself is perceived but they are a good way of expressing yourself. You can really do a lot of stuff to your ears.
Nose: While this was once an edgy look it has pretty much become commonplace amongst any type of girl (or at least the stud has; the ring holds some more weight). This is a piercing that works best purely if you have a well-formed or petite nose and since a lot of people have one, that's probably why this is so common. If you have a large or bumpy nose, this has a tendency to enhance that (I could never get one; from the side it's like a scary sledding ramp). However, it can also be a pretty accessory on a nice nose.
Lip: This one is not based on how your lips look but how your overall face works. The lip piercing looks best on girls with kind of uniformly sized, "sweet" features (i.e. large eyes and lips, smallish nose, maybe a round/oval face) or girls with a really edgy look (prominent cheekbones or jawline, almond eyes, etc.). Here's why: on a "sweet" face the piercing gives the wearer an extra, modern edge to very classic features. On an edgy face, it plays up the edginess and just fits right in. Any face not on these two dramatic sides of the spectrum is drowned out by the piercing. You also usually want to have lips that are uniform or maybe a bit larger than your other features.
Eyebrow: The eyebrow piercing looks best on girls without uniformly sized features. That doesn't mean she has to look average; she just has to have features that are all over the place in scale with each other (i.e. let's say she has a large nose, cheekbones, and small eyes; she doesn't fit into a category like the two types I listed in "lip" because her features are all over the place in scale). On a girl with features that easily compliment each other, the eyebrow piercing looks like a mistake and that's probably the explanation for the story above.
I also think the logic behind eyebrow piercings is somewhat concurrent with the logic behind eye make-up. On a face with small eyes, an eyebrow piercing will draw attention to that area but on a face with large eyes, you will be unable to see anything but the piercing because the eyes stand out naturally without any sort of adornment.
Monroe: This works on any girl who is averagely, conventionally pretty. Essentially, this could work on maybe 75% or more of the girls you pass on the street. However, personality wise this one wouldn't work for everyone. Also, the "sweet" faced girl, probably shouldn't do it unless their goal is to look as stereotypically 1950s as humanly possible.
Septum, Labert, Medusa: I'm a little biased about this one because I don't think these piercings enhance anything EXCEPT that they do make you look edgier but this is not always in a positive way. I know a lot of hipsters with septum piercings and it just makes them look silly. Although, one of my friends has a septum piercing that looks fine on her and she would fall into the childish, "sweet" face type so it mostly just makes her look "not so sweet." You need an upper lip area that is not notably small.
Labret piercings can have a really profound effect on the way a face looks because they are so centrally located so I find that they look least intrusive on faces that are already full of harsh lines or angular. On rounder faces they are way too pronounced. On "sweet" faces they come off as someone who is trying very hard to project a different image than what they were born with.
Medusa piercings include both the upper lip rule in the septum paragraph and the central location rule in the labret paragraph so they are theoretically the hardest to pull off.
Bridge: I'd be very happy to never see this piercing again. It looks bad on everyone. There's barely any edge to it either because it just looks incorrect.
Snakebites: Kind of the same as lip but this is more like septum/labret in that it is instant edgy and can sometimes more so distract than enhance (but hey, I do think they can look pretty freaking cool).
Cheek: Really just says that you ran out of places to pierce (and you don't mind potentially getting caught on things) if you do a ring. There are some nice stud cheek piercings out there (dimple, butterfly, teardrop, crow's feet) but you really need your whole face to work with it in particular the area around where you put it. Generally other rules above can be applied based on where the piercing is going.
I was looking for information about piercings and ended up reading this article of yours. I think it's a nice piece of text and it's refreshing to see someone that isn't a total anti or a complete piercing-lover. I absolutely agree that you need to overthink properly what piercing suits you best. I believe a piercing can deff compliment your face, but you have to choose the right one! Personally I have an eyebrow piercing. I wanted one since I was young, but I did take into consideration that I have nice-shaped and dark eyebrows myself. Several times I noticed people with blond and barely visible eyebrows having an eyebrowpiercing, which in my opinion didnt look that good. Haha no idea why i'm saying this but I just wanted to let you know that I like your article!
ReplyDeleteThank so much for reading! And I totally agree with you about about eyebrow piercings and needing the right kind of brows to pull it off. I've always been of the everything in moderation attitude about piercings and tattoos. There's nothing at all wrong with them; you just need to chose wisely!
DeleteYes! Everything about this entry is completely great and right in the world.
ReplyDeleteWow, thanks so much! I'm really happy at how well received this bit of writing is.
DeleteWhat about chubbier faces...would the snake bites or monroe be better?
ReplyDeleteI think it depends more on the features of the face than the size. Although I have made a lot of generalizations in this entry, it's really a case by case thing.
DeleteI'm thinking of getting a piercing but not sure what I have an oval face large eyes and not so prominent cheek bones this is me http://frenchy287.deviantart.com/art/Dayum-We-are-a-couple-of-sexy-minnesotans-341890213 I'm on the right I was wondering if you could suggest something
ReplyDeleteYou're the one of the right, yes? I think a lip piercing would probably look great on you! It would flatter your strong chin (I'm so jealous; I have a receding chin). Of course, it's up to you!
DeleteI don't have any pictures of myself to show you but I'm debating between an eyebrow piercing or nose (ring, not stud, mind you.) and I can't decide. I have an oval face and an average nose haha.. do you think both an eyebrow and nose would be too much?
ReplyDeleteI honestly don't know. It's really hard to determine these things without a visual. If you have a decent nose, a nose ring sounds good. The eyebrow piercing I can't really say without an image.
Deletehm, try this. http://facebook.com/megan.allred.58
DeleteOh okay. I stand by what I said about a nose ring being a good idea but I think two piercings might be a bit overwhelming on you. You have very nice and delicate features that might be really drowned out with more than one piercing although I think whichever piercing you decide to go with would probably look fine.
DeleteI was promised a piercing for my birthday but I don't know what kind to get,I have small features like, small nose, small eyes (kind of almond shaped but not completely) ,and small lips(not.thin but also not plump) weekday do you think?
ReplyDeleteSo, I love answering these questions but it's virtually impossible for me to do without a picture. I can hear the facts about your features but I cannot see accurately how they are laid out in my head alone. You can post the link and delete it after I answer you if you are afraid someone will find it but I really don't know what to tell you from just that much information.
DeleteHi, I just wanted to say that I really enjoyed this article! I've been debating whether or not to get a lip piercing but I just can't decide if it will look good or not. This is me with a fake ring- http://owl-in-black17.deviantart.com/art/Lip-piercing-355436537 and this is me looking natural haha - http://owl-in-black17.deviantart.com/art/Just-me-309758866
ReplyDeleteI'd really appreciate your opinion!
Personally, I like it! If you want it, go for it! Also, your lips are not chubby; they're very nicely shaped. I think you could also rock a nose piercing in case you were wondering.
DeleteThank you so much!
DeleteI love that you wrote this! I found it while googling about piercings and face shapes. I am having a serious struggle in deciding on a piercing. I've always wanted a labret. but recently started wondering if that wouldnt take away from my lip shape....so i started wondering about possibly a vertical eye brow. I'd love your unbiased and honest opinion!! Also, in this pic my eyebrows are thin shaped. i don't do this anymore...so they are somewhat "normal" shaped and dark now.
ReplyDeletehttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v510/rhltechie/piercing/a9e2e3ab-ec74-4dd8-924a-852ec3a9e5e3.jpg
I would avoid a labret, honestly. On your face it would be a bit too distracting from your features since labrets usually work more on harsh, angular faces and yours is softer and rounder.
DeleteAn eyebrow piercing on the other hand would be a good choice. You have nice brows (even if they are somewhat different now) and it would draw more focus to your eyes without distracting from the rest of your features.
Also, glad you liked the article! I hope I helped!
Yes. So true! All of it! Back when nose piercings were still somewhat edgy, I really wanted to get one. I decided not to because I realized my nose is huge, and who wants to draw attention to that? I have been wanting to get a facial piercing for awhile now, but I can't decide what I could pull off. It would be awesome to get your advice considering this article is golden.

Also, my ears are stretched too. I usually wear 2g plugs. I don't know if that effects the look of facial piercings or not.
Thanks so much for the comments about my article! I'm really pleased that I'm getting so much positive feedback!
DeleteAbout the advice:
First of all, ear piercings, even gauged ones, don't really effect the look of facial piercings. I make my judgments based on the layout of someone's features and since the ears are in the back of the head, anything you do to them won't changed the way your features look. It's the same with tongue piercings or anything below the neck.
As for what piercings would work on you, you have a few options. I would avoid an eyebrow piercing because you have large, round eyes and a piercing would distract from them. I don't think your nose is large; it looks proportionate to me and that's what's important. A nose piercing wouldn't be bad. You have a very classic set of features and a monroe would look good but it would make you look really 1950s which it's up to you if that's a good or bad thing. For my money, I say a lip piercing would be the best choice. You have the exact kind of face I think of when I say "adding an edge to a classic look." I actually have a friend with a similar layout of features as you and she has snakebites which work better than you would think.
I hope that gives you something to think about.
Thank you so much! I'm seriously considering a lip ring.
DeleteHey there Kay - what are your thoughts on ear piercings? I've had a labret piercing in the early 00's (which were kind of big at the time) and a nose piercing, both of which went by the wayside when I got a proper job. However I'd like to do *something*, and I'm thinking about getting a piercing in the part of the ear near where it meets the face - I think it's called a 'tragus' piercing. What's your perspective on this type of piercing, generally?
ReplyDeleteI love ear piercings! My stance on them is pretty much always go with what you want! My two exceptions are pretty much: 1.) don't gauge your ears too big (anything over 1/2" is too big in my personal opinion) and be aware that anything over a 2g may require surgery to get the holes smaller and 2.) don't have a chain connecting a nose piercing and an ear piercing because you are asking for trouble. Otherwise, I say as many as you want and any kind. I really like helix piercings, industrials, orbitals, rings, and gauges under 00 personally. If you'd like a tragus, go for it! Just remember that they take longer to heal than lobes because they have a lot of tough skin to get through to piece. There are a lot of options with where you can put ear piercings: daith, anti-tragus, rook, conch. I'd suggest googling "ear piercings chart" if you want to explore other ideas.
DeleteI meant 3/4". I am terrible at measurements.
DeleteHi would you suggest a piercing for me? I want a piercing and tattoo so bad. Can't quite afford the tattoo I want yet until after the wedding. I can't decide which piercing, if any, would enhance my features. I am the girl in the picture below.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=2344056448590&set=t.1465367738&type=3&theater
A nose piercing would fit in great with your features! You have a great nose shape. I wouldn't recommend an eyebrow or lip piecing because I feel like they would stick out too much and mitigate your features. You have a round face shape with uniform medium sized features so adding really prominent ring piercings would distract rather than blend. There's no one feature that the eye needs to be drawn towards. For this reason, something like a monroe would also work because it speaks to the whole face instead of just one feature.
DeleteI hope that helps/makes sense!
Thanks for your help! Much appreciated!
ReplyDeleteNo problem!
Deletei have a nose piercing and a lip piercing on the same side does it look right or should i take it out
ReplyDeleteI don't know what it looks like so I can't really say. It's really your decision.
Deletewow this article such a breath of fresh air! i was searching for info on appropriate facial piercings for different facial types & loved it...well written and makes alot of sense. Am seriously considering a facial piercing, most likely either eyebrow or monroe(leaning more towards eyebrow), but am still unsure what would suit my face best! I have very full lips & a large nose so that's why i thought the eyebrow would balance out my features better...I'd REALLY appreciate ur opinion on what you think would work out well:-) http://www.flickr.com/photos/95546558@N04/
ReplyDeleteYou're so right about the eyebrow piercing! I fully support it! Although a monroe would definitely be cute too. I almost feel like because you have such prominent features, you could pull off both without a problem. Just make sure if you do ever go with both that they are on opposite sides of your face.
DeleteThanks so much for reading!
I was thinking about getting a facial piercing but all of my friends say there aren'y any that would look good on me. Would you mind giving your opinion on which ones might work with my face? https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=4735306265448&set=a.1601967573939.2085950.1378585199&type=1&theater

DeleteI can kind of see why your friends say that a piercing wouldn't look good on you: you have very even, medium-sized features across the board and a very heart-sharped face. I have been trying to come up with something for a few minutes now and usually it comes to me immediately. I'm going to go in the opposite direction than your friends though: because your features are so consistent, I think you could go with anything. Honestly. I'm SLIGHTLY less in support of a nose ring than the other options but otherwise, yeah, anything goes. Sorry I couldn't be more specific but on the plus side, you have a lot of options!
DeleteP.S. I like that spiral-looking earring you have in the second picture.
Haha thanks for trying anyway :) I get what you mean. I was thinking about a butterfly kiss piercing or snake bites (or at least some kind of lower lip thing). But I'm glad you think anything would work; the problem now is that I can't decide and I probably shouldn't get too many!
DeleteI like the idea of the butterfly kiss or a lip ring but I think snake bites might be too much. Everything in moderation with piercings but at least if you make a mistake with one (or get sick of one), it can be taken out!
DeleteI have a very round face, a slightly large nose, small eyes and quite big lips, and I think my face fits into the "sweet" category based on how my face actually looks rather than these features. Anyway I'm not sure how accurately I just described my features, so here's some pictures:
ReplyDeletehttp://instagram.com/p/ZpqQkZCUGY/#
http://instagram.com/p/Z5cIr1iUGR/#
http://instagram.com/p/Z5bv3MiUFz/#
Anyway, I really want to get a facial piercing of some kind, probably some kind of lip of nose piercing, whether it's a monroe or a normal lip piercing or snakebites or a nose ring or stud or whatever. What do you think would suit me?
I'm not really seeing small eyes and big lips from your pictures but actually the opposite. When I use size terms, I mean in proportion to your face, not some sort of theoretical average of everyone. Of course, the eyes could be a result of the makeup you're wearing in the picture so it's really hard to tell. They do have a nice shape though.
DeleteAnyway, you certainly have a well-shaped nose that would suit a piercing. You do have the "sweet" look so a monroe would fit in if you want to play up that aspect. A lip ring might actually drown out your lips because, as I mentioned, to me they look proportionately smaller. Lip studs however, would be fine. I can't really say about an eyebrow piercing because as I noted before, your eye makeup makes it hard for me to tell exactly how your eyes look. Overall, the best advice I can give is to definitely avoid large rings. They would not mesh well with the roundness of your face and would drown out your features no matter where you put them. Small rings or studs would look better.
Hope that helps!
I am really convinced on getting a dermal piercing just under my eye. I have big eyes, a smaller average sized nose and small lips. My eyes are my best feature so I thought it would play them up. But I dont want to get it if it's going to fuck up my face, lol. What do you think?
ReplyDeleteIt's really hard for me to say anything definitive without a picture. The fact is, your size definitions may not be same as mine and for the most part, one looks at their own face a lot less than people they see everyday.
DeleteIn general (since I can't say for sure in your case), playing up larger eyes with a piercing can have a negative effect of causing the rest of your features to fade away. What you want is balance.
If you want a more certain answer, post a picture link. You can delete it after I answer you.

ReplyDeleteSo i wanna get a piercing through my lip because i think it would look good on me, what do you think? what other piercing do you think would be good, i already have 1/2 inch gauges, 4 other ear piercings and my tongue!
I think a lip piercing would look fine.
DeleteIn all honesty, it's really hard to give an answer that I'm 100% confident about with a picture that has such a skewed angle. The best shots are the simple, straightforward kind because I really can't get a read on your face shape and that's kind of the first thing you use to determine proportions.
Sorry I can't be of more help!

It's a tiny bit better but I'm still missing the top of your head so I can't say anything about eyebrow piercings or surface piercings.

sorry again!
Okay, I'm revising my stance. No on the nose piercing. Yes on an eyebrow piercing. Still good on the lip piercing too.
Deletehiya :) i really love facial piercings, but never thought any suited my face, so feel free to say not to get a piercing. I would also appreciate your opinion on dimple piercings, especially for my face haha here are 3 pictures would love your opinion, don't want to ask friends or family https://fbcdn-sphotos-h-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-prn1/11794_10151455018728406_2009160491_n.jpg and https://fbcdn-sphotos-d-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/s720x720/24637_10200158921209217_1964077820_n.jpg and https://fbcdn-sphotos-e-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/600734_10201154833890843_534211878_n.jpg

They're quite bad pictures, but I figure that doesn't give a skewed perception of my face if I was duck-facing or something haha I'd also like to know what you think of butterfly piercings and other surface facial piercings, thankyou!
I don't think they're bad pictures! As for your questions, a lip piercing would be nice with your pointed chin for sure and a nose piercing would probably also be good. Avoid an eyebrow piercing.
DeleteWhen it comes to surface piercings, this is the important thing to remember: they speak to the whole of your face and change its overall impression. If you get a nose piercing or something localized, it won't change anything in particular about the perception of your face (aside from people maybe noticing your nose shape where before they did not). With piercings like butterfly kisses, dimple piercings, monroes, labrets, teardrops, and the like they become more of a part of your face's layout. It's important to not go overboard with them. Also, I always think before you get a facial piercing you should use a fake piercing first to determine if you want to get something but you really, really need to with surface piercings.
That being said, I think dimple piercings would look really nice on you. They would fit in well for the same reason that a lip piercing would work and also because you have a good smile and round cheeks.
I hope my advice was useful!
Thankyou! Yes, definitely useful :) What sort of effect do you think specific surface piercings would give? I'm not particularly set on one yet, and I can't really match my face to sweet or edgy so I'm not really sure.
DeleteIt's hard to generalize with specific piercings honestly because no two faces are the same. Labrets usually work best on angular faces because they are so harsh in their central location and monroes usually work on softer faces because they mimic beauty marks. Butterfly kiss and teardrop piercings can kind of work on anyone as long as that is the look you are going for. Dahlia and dimple piercings call attention to the mouth and cheek area so you should have nice lips and a good smile. I don't know. It's really hard to break it down when it's so much so a case by case basis. That's my best shot. Sorry.
DeleteI can say, you definitely fall on the sweet side of the spectrum, if that means anything.
Hey there, my friend mentioned she wanted to get her nose pierced, and I'd been wanting a piercing for a while, but I'm not sure what to get. She thinks I'd look cute with a nose ring, but I'm not so sure, my nose is kinda beaky from the side. I personally like the Monroe (I can dig the 50's look). Here's a picture of me, just curious what you think.

I'm totally on board with the monroe! It seems like a perfect addition to your style. As for the nose piercing, I can't tell the shape of your nose from the picture (3/4 shots have a tendency to be best for this) but from what I can see, it seems proportionate at least. Definitely go with what you want the most.
DeleteThanks a bunch!
DeleteSo I have been pondering on a type of lip piercing (bottom, maybe snake bites, or monroe- not quite sure) and I came across your article. What is your opinion on my face type? ReplyDeleteYour most prominent feature is definitely your eyes so they certainly don't need any more attention drawn to them. Stick to piercings in the mouth region to balance in out. Honestly, anything of the below-the-nose sort would probably work really well on you. You could also do a nose piercing but I think the other sort would really look nice.
Thanks for helping out! I will take into consideration what you said as well as the possible health risks in getting certain mouth piercings. :)
DeleteDefinitely the first thing to consider with any piercing other than whether or not it will look good!
DeleteHello, I read your article and I'm really interested in your opinion. I have a round face and quite a small nose and I don't have a 'sweet' face but I really fancied getting my septum pierced. I'm worried that I would either look stupid or possibly like a lesbian ahaa! Can someone with a round face pull off a septum piercing? sorry for the long winded question. :)
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to make generalizations without an actual picture but unfortunately, septum piercings don't usually work on round faces. The reason is pretty simple: a centrally located round ring will imitate the face shape. Generally, I encourage piercings that accent the under-emphasized features in one's face to create balance or compliment features without distracting from the rest. A septum piercing on a round face would overemphasize the face shape and thereby mitigate everything else.
DeleteAgain, I'm just speaking in generals here. Your face could be far less round than you think but I wouldn't know.
Oh, and you shouldn't let other people's perception of you dictate your choices. And I mean that in every sense.
Wow, what a well written and sensible blogpost! Finally someone who doesnt just say dont do it!
ReplyDeleteI have been contemplating a piercing for a year now but havent met one single person who gives good advice on what would suit me.Im leaning towards a lip piercing sadly I have nearly non existent lips. I would love to hear what you think... you seem to have such a good grasp on the whole concept of piercings!!

Thanks so much! It's pretty important to me to change the attitude towards body mod and people who have it because in the modern world, more people should really be more accepting of other's decisions about how they look and it still bothers me that something like a nose ring or a tattoo can prevent someone from getting a job they deserve.
DeleteAs for what I think for you, I wouldn't say your lips are non-existent but it is true that a lip ring might overtake them and diminish them and that's really not what you want. You have a well-proportioned face so I'm inclined to recommend a more centrally located piercing. A nose ring, a monroe, or heck, I think you even have the kind of face that a labret could really work on and those faces are pretty hard to come by.
I hope that helps!
Hi! I really enjoyed your article. And I was hoping maybe to get some advise as to my next piercing. So, I already have a septum piercing. But I have been considering a center horizontal labret. I may wear both piercings at the same time or I might go in-between the two. Thanks! :)

DeleteAnyway, I could kind of go either way on this. On the one hand, if you're a big fan of symmetry that seems like the way to go. Your face could handle it since your features are fairly uniform in size and you have a very evenly square face (which is why the septum piercing works; it's central on a very even face). On the other hand, that may be a bit too much on the lower half of your face and you have a fairly high forehead (it seems; most of your pictures cut it off). I think an eyebrow piercing instead could really create balance. Of course, if you go between the two, there's really no problem at all.
It's up to you! Just giving you something to think about.
I agree with a lot of what you said. But, I have a rounder, chubbier face, and I went for a central labret. It works so well on me, though! I guess it's because my lip shape suits it quite well, and my face isn't like Honey Boo Boo's mum or anything, just a bit pudgy lol. I think it adds an edge to my look because of the way I generally dress, but if I decide to go softer for a day it works really well then, too.
ReplyDeleteI guess I'd just advise anyone who wants a facial piercing to look up other people with their general face shape and see if it suits them. It's what I did, although snakebites seemed to be pretty popular. I do love me some snakebites, but in Norway it costs a lot of money to get two piercings.
Wow, went off on a bit of a tangent here, sorry!
Well, the final answer to any piercing is what you want!
DeleteHi! I want to get a facial piercing, I thought of getting a nostril piercing but I'm not sure. I don't particularly like any of my facial features or face shape. Do you have any advice for me? Thanks!
ReplyDeletehttp://www.flickr.com/photos/103964978@N08/with/10038415924/
I'm on board with the nose ring! It's definitely the facial piercing I feel most strongly about for you. I feel like none of the other usual options would be glaringly wrong for you but none would fit quite as well as that.
DeleteAnd don't be so hard on yourself. You have a very nice face. You actually greatly resemble an acquaintance I had in college who, now that I think about it, had a nose ring. Ha.
Heya, this was an amazing piece I've been trying to work out what piercings would suit me for ages cause i'd really like some facial piercings C: I know this post was made awhile ago but if you see my comment judging by my profile picture could you please tell me what piercings would best suit me? thankyou so much:3 xo
ReplyDeleteI was also wondering whether spider bites would suit me? baha
ReplyDeleteI think that a lip-based piercing is definitely the right way to go. You already have very prominent features everywhere else on your face (or at least as far as I can tell from the picture) so it would be fine to draw some attention there. If you like spider bites, go for those!
DeleteThanks so much for reading!
Thank you hehe c:
DeleteHie!
ReplyDeleteI really want a facial piercing(nothing over the top) but I'm afraid nothing will suit me!
I have a pretty large nose and full lips but my eyes are medium-ish in size.
Here's a pic of me on my own https://m.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=589933097686065&id=100000081414132&set=a.158716970807682.36111.100000081414132&refid=56 and I'm on the left in this pic https://m.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=515523368460372&id=100000081414132&set=a.158716970807682.36111.100000081414132&refid=56 please help!
You have very striking features. I feel included to say that you should take advantage of that. Something like a butterfly kiss or crow's feet or just a regular eyebrow piercing would play up your eyes which are smaller than your other features but have a very nice shape that would benefit from such attention. A monroe would also be a nice option for you. I feel like interesting stub piercings would be the way to go over rings in order to work with your face.
DeleteI hope that helps!
Would you be able too tell me if I would suit any facial piercings:)?

You're definitely a good candidate for a nose piercing. That's really the one that sticks out most to me because you have a decent nose. I would avoid an eyebrow piercing because your eyes are your most prominent feature and they don't need any more focus.
DeleteMy nose finally healed up enough for me to get it repierced, but I figured since I was going to the studio anyway, I might as well see if there was anything I wanted better. I agree with all the ways you've advised people in the comments, so what do you think would look best?
ReplyDeleteMy picture pool isn't very deep, but I'm the short haired blonde in these.

The nose piercing is definitely a good way to go. I could only get the first picture to open and I really feel like you have a lot of freedom with what kind of piercing you could get since you have very uniformly sized features. In fact, I think if you wanted something else on top of the nose piercing, that wouldn't be too overwhelming.
DeleteSorry I couldn't say anything more definitive but sometimes there's just a lot of leniency.
Wow what a great article :D
ReplyDeleteIt's so hard to find unbiased/nonjudgmental commentaries on piercings I just... Aaahhh you have no idea how happy I am to see something like this ^w^
But anyways... I was wondering if I could get your opinion on possible piercings that could work for me? I've been considering a lip stud/ring on my lower right side but I'm not sure how that would work with the rest of my features...
This is my Facebook... I just took a couple of selfies :)
https://www.facebook.com/carol.chao.5076
Thanks so much ^^
Oh and I forgot to add, the spot under my left eye is a dermal piercing I just got about a month ago :)
DeleteOther than your profile picture, which doesn't give me much to work with, I can't really see any pictures with you in them. I'd imagine it's because of privacy settings.
DeleteOh whoops, silly me I thought I set the privacy option to public but I guess that didn't really work... The pictures should be on my tumblr though... http://jen-moriarty.tumblr.com/
ReplyDeleteSorry about that ^^;
Hmm, honestly, I not big on the idea of lip based piercings on you. I think they would drown out the lower half of your face which has less space than the rest of your face. I would be more inclined to advise an eyebrow piercing on the opposite side of your face or even a corresponding dermal. Sorry!
DeleteHmm... My jaw is noticeably shifted to my left... I think its noticeable in the pictures too... Could the drowning out effect help distract from that or would it have the opposite effect?
DeleteThanks for the advice and sorry about all these questions XD
I didn't notice a shift. I am talking specifically about proportions. Since I didn't even notice I can't say whether it would distract or drown. Probably drown because it would drown out everything below your nose.
DeleteHi! I'm thinking about getting my lip done. I'm open to other suggestions though. Here's a few pics of me. Advice please?
ReplyDeletehttps://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=548655521823249&set=a.500750459947089.108780.100000364195336&type=3&theater

Neither photo works. Facebook is a tricky place to try to send pictures from because a.) privacy settings and b.) the "theater" format that it uses makes sending the link not possible. You have to open the picture itself in it's own tab and make sure the settings will allow it.
DeleteI've been wanting to get a simple bottom lip ring for a while. For Halloween I tried a scene-kid getup (complete with paper clip pseudo-piercings), and this is a picture of how it looked. Any advice?
ReplyDeletehttps://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=694532433892812&set=a.157180634294664.37661.100000081858496&type=1&theater
Looks good to me! Honestly, both of them do. You have the right set of features for either piercing or both in the way they are arranged in the picture.
DeleteHeya I found this article very use full but I have difficulty in choosing a piercing I want to get my lip and nose donebut I don't know if I should . I have a round face, small almond shaped , monolid eyes, and a small/ not prominant nose
ReplyDeleteI have said this before and I will say it again: it is virtually impossible for me to do this without a picture. You spend less time looking at your face than people who know you (one would hope) and your descriptions of your features may not match my descriptions of your features. I can only mentally create so much of an image from what you tell me (you don't have a mouth in it) and even then, I can't say anything for accuracy.
DeleteHi, I was wondering which piercing ypu thought would work best for me ? I was kind of thinking about getting snake bites but not 100% sure I used to have a nose stud but don't like it completely. Thank you :) http://instagram.com/babygirlly13
DeleteBy the way, amazing article. :)
DeleteI have no idea which Anon is which. Either way, to the Anon with the instagram, your pictures have a lot of angles that are hard to get a perfect read on but from what I'm seeing with glasses on, snake bites would work well but without them two piercings there would be a bit overwhelming. Such a large accessory really does have an effect on the balance of your face.
DeleteI love your blog! Any tips on what kind/type of facial piercing I should get? My pic is on my twitter page. www.twitter.com/TheMollyShelton
ReplyDeletehey thank you so much for this post its so helpful and youve been really great with replying so if its not a bother could you tell me what kind of facial would look good on my face? My features are basically like proportionally bigger (and bolder eyebrows) so although id like a nose piercing idk if itll look nice. here are some pics (I'm the one on the left) http://media.tumblr.com/32fe1c29f4c07e2e66dc31273c54275d/tumblr_inline_mx207ciKOt1revz0o.png and https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/?ui=2&ik=e3844e56d0&view=att&th=142a6bd7855618b2&attid=0.1&disp=safe&zw Honest feedback would be so great thanks!
ReplyDeleteWhen I open the first link the picture is so insanely small that I can't really judge properly and the second link won't open. Sorry.
Deleteoh oops so sorry this should be better http://31.media.tumblr.com/58b907ff8f3f257aadb1b5c1479600a5/tumblr_mx3o4xBDfl1s40hsgo1_500.jpg
DeleteI'm down with a nose piercing on you although I lean more in favor of a stud than a ring; a ring might be too much. A lip piercing would also work because your mouth is proportionately smaller than your other features. An eyebrow ring would definitely draw too much attention upwards when you don't need it with your heavy brows.
DeleteHonestly it seems like you've already got my method down. Haha. Hope my clarification was of any assistance!
Hm I never thought of a lip piercing haha I try to pay attention Thanks for all your help!
DeleteHey, I would really appreciate your advice on what to get next. So far I have one thin nose piercing on the right, which must be really subtle because people have accused me of not having any piercings. As you can see, I have rather thin lips for my face size. which is a factor that confuses me here. I was thinking second ring next to it, monroe, or cyber bites, but I'm really conflicted because of my stupid invisible lips. Lipstick does not look good on me. I would get anti-eyebrow if it wasn't a joke to maintain, so preferably not dermals. Thanks in advance if there's anything you can suggest; I've really liked your ideas for others. :)
ReplyDeletehttps://fbcdn-sphotos-g-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-frc1/734491_4459773094162_242857574_n.jpg and https://scontent-a-lhr.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash2/545724_3128805140795_1822936442_n.jpg and https://scontent-a-lhr.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash3/3381_3489992050242_572979763_n.jpg
Too bad about your aversion to dermals because I think an anti-eyebrow piercing would work great on you but I understand.
DeleteHonestly though, your ideas sound really good. I can definitely see a second ring or a monroe (or both on opposite sides). I think the cyber bites would balance out your lips well but that could also be said of a monroe which would draw attention without being overpowering like a ring might be. I think I don't like the cyber bites idea as much but I'm truthfully having a hard time pining down why. It might have to do with your face shape and how long and square your face is. I don't know; I feel like it calls for less symmetrical piercings. I wish I could be more concrete in my descriptions. Sorry. I hope I helped at least a little bit.
Unrelated, but I really love the blue hair.
Thanks for the compliment and thanks so much for your feedback. Me and my friends seem to agree that less symmetrical looks better, judging by Photoshop at least. I did look good with anti-eyebrow face gems, but it's not something I'd be able to keep in my career after uni so I think it would be a shame if I ended up with noticeable scars.
DeleteI thought this article was really interesting, especially how some piercings work and others don't. I was wondering what kinds of piercings look like they would work on me? I was thinking of getting a Medusa for the longest time, but my boyfriend says cheek. I'd love to hear your opinion on those, or whatever you might suggest!
ReplyDeleteOh and sorry for the super serious photo. It was a little difficult to get my webcam to focus :)
http://25.media.tumblr.com/1c2b199480e29a46f7686aaa7f1b04ef/tumblr_myjv10bQkm1ri3alko1_1280.jpg
I'm more inclined to agree with your boyfriend. I don't like the idea of a really centrally located piercing on you. Maybe something under the eye . From my point of view anything around the lip area might be too much. Eyes are made more prominent with a piercing but lips are dismissed by them and your lips are your proportionately smallest facial feature. I'd say anything away from that area would probably look great. Sorry.
DeleteIt's okay, glad to hear your opinion on it! I'll definitely have to look around at the different options since I'm not too familiar with them.
DeleteI want to change the lip piercing I have because I became tired of it. My idea was to get a stud instead of a ring, and maybe a medusa too (and therefore have cyber bites). However I'm not sure if it would fit my face. And also, I don't know if I should get it in black or silver color.
ReplyDeleteHere's a picture of me (it's in black and white, sorry)
https://fbcdn-sphotos-h-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/530411_4879270654946_727778376_n.jpg
I think that either of those could work. You have a good, sharp face for centrally placed piercings and the lip area is a good place to put them. As for color, it's a little hard for me to tell whether black or silver would look better using a black and white photo. Honestly I think color of piercing is really just personal preference. Location and ring or stud really do require consideration of other factors but color is just whatever you want.
DeleteHi :) I really want to get a facial piercing, but i just don't know what will look good and even after reading this i still don't know what will look good on me. Here are some pictures of me

I got some of the pictures to work. Haha.
DeleteYou've got one of those hard faces to determine because there are a lot of potential options (I've had at least one or two people on here with the same issue). The only piercing I feel like I'm against for you is the eyebrow because you don't need more attention on your eyes. Otherwise, any stud piercing in the lip area would work (yes, even the centrally located ones; you have the kind of sharp face I think of when I say central piercings work best for more angular faces) but a ring might overwhelm and I think nose or anything else in the under eye or upper lip territory would work.
Sorry I couldn't really narrow that one down further but at least you have a lot of options!
Thanks a lot :) you really helped!!
DeleteHi :)
ReplyDeleteI've found your blog post very interesting and informative. Thank you!
From what you've written here, I feel that an eyebrow piercing may be best suited to me. I am however, a slightly older woman (34), so if I were to opt for this, it would have to be something pretty and petite (like a small barbell with a jewel).
I have uploaded a picture of me looking rather tired (please don't laugh!). Do you feel an eyebrow piercing would be too harsh or too tacky on a 34 year old?
http://s1362.photobucket.com/user/QueenofDeniElle/media/liloleme_zps45250ea1.jpg.html
Please give me your honest opinion. Thanks!
Hi...its the anonymous person above again. I just added another picture. It's a little clearer and it is slightly side on. As you can see, I have a rather bulbous nose (it never used to be that way as a teenager - I had it pierced way back when) and I have frown lines so I'm trying to draw attention away from those.
ReplyDeletehttp://s1362.photobucket.com/user/QueenofDeniElle/media/liloldmeII_zps4932d034.jpg.html?filters[user]=139076761&filters[recent]=1&sort=1&o=0
Hope these pictures are okay. I apologise for my seriously scary facial expressions!
Cheers :)
One last photo I swear. This one is about as clear as I can get on my iPhone and you can probably see where I pencilled in the spot where I'd like my eyebrow piercing hehe. Sorry for spamming your blog with my mug. No more pics of me, I promise.Take care! http://s1362.photobucket.com/user/QueenofDeniElle/media/lilolemeIII_zps05989c51.jpg.html?filters[user]=139076761&filters[recent]=1&sort=1&o=0
ReplyDeleteSorry for taking so long to get back to you.
DeleteI think you're completely on the nose with an eyebrow piercing and the reasoning behind it (jeez, lately everyone who's asked for advice has done such a good self-assessment that my input is kind of superfluous, haha). As for the age question, I feel like it's a pretty minimal factor. I mean, there are dozens of pictures on the internet of senior citizens with tattoos and piercings and they look great!
Thanks for reading!
Hi Kay! This is me below I used to have snakebites 4 years ago, but i decided to take them out not long after I had them. I was wondering what kind of piercings/piercings would look good on my face. I wanted to get a septum piercings but I don't think it would look that great on me.
ReplyDeletehttps://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=437334879726004&set=a.100554026737426.706.100003484861412&type=1&theater
I looked through some of your other pictures and I don't think a septum would be the best choice. The thing is, you seem to change your overall look so much that it's kind of hard to even pin down a specific idea. Yes, it's true that you can't change your face but the effect can be so different. I kind of lean mostly towards eyebrow. Maybe something in the lip area but if you've already done that I don't imagine you'd be too keen to try it again. I'm sorry. I wish I could come up with more but I'm a little stumped.
DeleteWhat types of piercings do you suppose would look good on me? Here are some pictures you can look through https://m.facebook.com/kirsten.beirsack/albums/100570956781327/
ReplyDeleteWell, you already have a nose piercing it seems which would have been one I would list. Other than that? Perhaps a monroe on the opposite side? It would probably be a good compliment for the type of look you have.
DeleteI'm trying to decide between getting a monroe, or an eyebrow piercing. I can't figure out what (if any) piercings would look good for my face. Any ideas? Thanks https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10202865709221431&set=pb.1162973392.-2207520000.1393112984.&type=3&theater
ReplyDeleteBetween the two I would definitely say the monroe. Your eyes have plenty of focus already and I think it would look good with your face.
DeleteSo i have been thinking of maby getting a septum piercing, but I'm not so sure it would look good on me, and I'm open to any other suggestion you may have :-)
ReplyDeleteThe picture is a bit old, and i usually where more make up on, but i hope you can still work with it :-)
https://m.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=443791355672681&id=100001254608258&set=a.172111259507360.46160.100001254608258&source=43
I think that would be okay. From the picture I would say to stick in the realm of "lip-adjacent" piercings. Especially if you usually wear more makeup. You have plenty of focus on the upper part of your face while your lips are a bit smaller and wouldn't be bad with more focus.

i was wondering of getting a lip piercing, because i absolutely love them :P so well, what do yoouu think ? should i ??
First of all, thanks so much!
DeleteSecondly, I say go for it! You definitely have strong enough features to pull off another piercing (if I correctly see a nose piercing there). My only suggestion is to get it on the opposite side of your face.
Wuhoo! Yes i have a nose piercing right now :P
Deleteand yes! thanks :D
I've really liked septum piercings due to the fact that they aren't as common as other nose piercings and they're easy to hide. However, people seem to have such polarizing opinions on them that I'm conflicted wether or not to get one. I intrinsically know that it's my body, I shouldn't care about other's opinions per se, but I work in the engineering profession and just think that it would be much easier to hide while at work. What are your thoughts? Here is my face for reference: http://s364.photobucket.com/user/love2B/media/meh/photo4_zpse335e6ff.jpg.html
ReplyDeleteWhops, try this link: https://fbcdn-sphotos-g-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-frc3/t1.0-9/1012453_10200853917563038_1820794557_n.jpg
ReplyDelete(Anonymous from above)
I always think septum piercings aren't really able to be judged based on facial features unless someone simply has a face where there shouldn't be nose piercings or really centrally located piercings and you aren't one of these people. That's why I don't say much about septum piercings in my article because aside from that, it's totally up to you. My personal opinion of septum piercings in general doesn't matter as I try to only say what works with one's face.
DeleteMy best advice would be to try a false piercing first. Wear it for a while; see how you feel. And definitely don't get a piercing just because of someone's else's opinion or simply because it will be easy to hide (you can hide a lot of facial piercings with clear earring retainers that are made specifically for this purpose).
Sorry I couldn't be more helpful! I hope whatever you decide makes you happy.
Hey ;) I already have an ear piercing but I want a facial one too. The problem is that I dont know which one would look good on me .

ReplyDeleteI'm not huge on either of those on you. I think it's because in this picture and in the one on Google+ your upper lip looks proportionately small with the rest of your facial composition. The weird thing is, I think most other common facial piercings would work fine (i,e. eyebrow, nose stud, lip). Actually, if you are particularly invested in the upper lip area, I think a monroe would look great on you. Thanks for asking.
DeleteWould a nose piercing suit me? If not would anywhere else out of curiosity? Thank you:) http://instagram.com/skyeomahony#link_profile
ReplyDeleteA nose piercing would suit you just fine!
DeleteI can definitely see a nose ring but for some reason I'm having trouble coming up with anything else. You have plenty of pictures; I'm just kind of at a loss beyond that. You have fairly small features for your face so I would keep it small whatever you go with.
ReplyDeleteSorry I couldn't be more helpful!
Thank you so much :) You were plenty helpful. I hope you have a great day!<3
ReplyDeleteWhich facial piercing would suit me best? <3 (:

Yeah, I wouldn't recommend an eyebrow piercing. A nose piercing would be nice or anything in the lip area would work well.
DeleteI already know I wouldn't look good with a pierced eyebrow because I have big eyes and wear glasses sometimes so it would just be way too much going on at once.
ReplyDeleteOh please please please (see three please's)-i need advise regarding whether of not I should get a septum. My link is below and I would really truly appreciate any consideration from you. Thanks! Great blog/article/advise I really like your perspective on things.
ReplyDeletehttps://twitter.com/themollyshelton
Honestly, I'm not really seeing a septum. Maybe a really small one. However, a regular nose piercing or an eyebrow piercing (or even both) I think would look really good.
DeleteWhat are your thoughts on a lip piercing or medusa piercing for me? www.twitter.com/MEShelton
DeleteI was wondering if you could give me some advice on the other ideas that I had? Please and thank you.
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteA monroe actually seems like it would be a good way to go! I just say do it on the opposite side from where your nose piercing is.
DeleteI was wondering if you could help me decide what piercing to get? For the longest time I thought I wanted snake bites but now I think I may want a septum piercing. I would love to hear if you think either of those would look good. Here's a picture of me:https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=777130842319415&set=a.147725401926632.29185.100000675201678&type=1&theater
ReplyDeleteI'm not really feeling snake bites if they are rings. Your mouth is definitely one of your proportionately smaller features and that feels like it would be overwhelming. A septum would be better but I'm still not totally on board unless it was one of the smaller sorts of rings. Funny thing is a nose piercing, one lip, monroe, dimples, or a lambret would probably look good on you. You have a good face for a variety of piercings but the two you listed are definitely less strong options.
DeleteSo do you think just one lower lip piercing would be ok? And would it be better as a stud or a thin ring?
DeleteThank you very much!
ReplyDeleteYour features are fairly uniform in size so everything you suggested would work really. In terms of space, avoid an eyebrow piercing since it would throw all attention upwards and anything upper lip based wouldn't really work too well either since the space between your nose and lip is fairly small. Otherwise: any piercings in the lower lip range, nose, or cheek will work perfectly.
Thanks again for your comment. I hope I helped!
I loved reading this and I found it while looking to find what piercings would look best on me, I've already decided that I'm going to get my Septum pierced but I was wondering if you could give me any ideas on what other piercings I could get that would complement me. http://instagram.com/p/sHsC1DwAuR/
ReplyDeletehttp://instagram.com/p/rxYku3QAm8/
I can see a septum piercing. The thing is, I can't really see much else at the same time as a septum. You have really delicate features on a very square face so adding any more in that area would be kind of overwhelming. Maybe you could also add an eyebrow piecing. I think that would work well but it's a tiny bit hard to tell with the way you style your hair. If you were to get another, definitely stick to the top half of your face (any of the cheek\eye area ones for instance).
DeleteHello there, I really loved this article, and I really want a facial piercing myself, I'm just not sure what would look best on me and that's what I want your opinion. I was thinking Monroe, nose (not sure if stud or ring would look better, I wore a fake nose ring and not some people saying that it looked good and some poeple saying it looked terrible), OR if I wanted to go a little more edgy then spider bites. I'm very open to more suggestions if you would like to give me more advice on this. My features that I can definitely pinpoint is the fact that I have a medium sized nose and it's pointed, full and large lips, and a heart shaped face. Your advice would be greatly appreciated. I'm sorry if this sent twice to you but I just want to be sure that i's sent.

if that picture doesn't work or doesn't help you that much, then here's an older picture of me from back in July where my head is slightly tilted and I didn't have my red highlights yet.
file:///C:/Users/MallorieGarvey/Downloads/hmmm.htm thank you so much!

I can't bring any of these up. It looks like you may have copied your computer's designation for the files and I'm not exactly using your computer. Sorry.
DeleteIt's totally okay, because I have a more recent picture of me right here anyways. God, I was stupid to think that downloading them would work.
Deletehttp://instagram.com/p/uGVpmapwZ6/?modal=true
Let me know if that works, thank you for your time!
Spider bites would work as would a couple other types in the lower half of the face and centrally located categories. If I were to describe your face I would say based on the picture it's fairly angular with pretty uniformly sized features and heavy brows. Hence why there are a fair amount of options. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI've been getting increasingly more interested in a septum piercing but I feel like it only suits people with really prominent cheekbones. Thoughts? (Far left in both)

Yeah, I feel like it might not be the best look for you. You have a very square-shaped face and anything really central (septum, labret, medusa, etc.) wouldn't be the most flattering. On the plus side, you have pretty uniformly sized features so any other piercing that isn't so central would probably look great on you!
DeleteI can't believe you're still answering questions! :) I really enjoyed reading your article, I've been looking for something like it for years. Would you mind taking a look at my pictures? I like the anti eyebrow, but I don't know what side and the square face is always a gamble. I honestly have no idea what would look good, do you have any suggestions? Thank you!
ReplyDeletePS please ignore the death stare, bonus dorky camping photo :)
chupachupsacabra.tumblr.com
I like the anti eyebrow on you. Or even a regular eyebrow or other types of below the eye cheek piercings. You have proportionately smaller lips so I would avoid anything too overwhelming there aside from dimple piercings which would be fine since they would visually lengthy your mouth. I guess in general for you I'm a fan of cheek based or eye area. I hope that helps!
DeleteP.S. I like your tumblr name even though I find it incredibly hard to say.
Hey :) I've been wanting a piecing for a while and know a bit about aftercare but still don't know what suits me and wuss out whenever I make a decision in case it won't suit. Can you help?

Okay the first picture worked and that one said it didn't look much like you but based on that picture I'd say eyebrow or nose. I couldn't get the second one to come up. Sorry!
DeleteSo i have the left side of my lip pierced already but i was thinking of doing another one on that side as well and an eyebrow piercing. What do you think? Im also open to suggestions(: heres a pic of me.

Um, it's hard for me to answer this because I would not have recommended a lip piercing in the first place really. My initial suggestion would have been eyebrow or below the eye and I still think you could do that too. It's hard for me to access a second lip piercing on the same side for that reason.
DeleteHey! I've been thinking about snake bites bu i don't know if they will look good on me so could you please look at my picture and maybe give e some advice :) http://instagram.com/p/vVF8HYSy25/?modal=true
ReplyDeleteI can definitely see that. Eyebrow and eye adjacent would also work (and probably be even better in my opinion). Of course, it's up to you!
Deletehi :) i've already gotten my nose pierced last year and now i'm thinking of a new piercing, i've asked my friends for suggestions and the best i've gotten are snake bites, labret or septum, so i've started searching through the internet and i've found your article and i'd love to hear your opinion, i'm also open for suggestions :)
ReplyDeletehere's a pic of me, it's not the best, but this is the only one i've found that shows my face from total front

You actually have the right kind of angular face to work with a labret. I think a septum would be too distracting honestly with the piercing you already have though. Lip would be fine on the opposite side from your nose piercing but snake bites might be a bit too much on the lower half of your face. Another way to go would be under the eye stud piercings. Hope that helps!
Deletethank you! i'm really loving the idea of a labret so i'll go in that direction
DeleteHey :3
ReplyDeleteSo, since I was 12 years old, I've wanted to get piercings and tattoos and all that jazz, but I could never decide what looked best on me. I also have an issue with scarring, so there's not much room for trial and error...
I've asked lots of people, and I've almost always gotten different answers. For example: eyebrow, dimples (even though I don't have dimples haha), industrials, tongue, bridge, septum, angel bites, canine bites, snake bites, labret, and Monroe. So I'm asking, in your professional opinion ;D, what do you think would be best? Here's my face:
https://www.facebook.com/delaney.elliott.186/photos_all
I can totally see why you get different answers from everyone. You have the kind of face where the size of the features in relation to each other and the placement of them means you could do pretty much anything and have it look okay (I know I've had two or three other commenters on here in the same boat). Literally the only thing I'm sure of is that because you have delicate features, any piercings you get would look better small i.e. gauging anything on your face or any oversized hoops would be a bit overpowering. I wish I could help more but, hey, I think this is probably a good thing. Anything you want will work with your face but because of your scaring issue, chose wisely.
DeleteThank you so much, that makes a lot of sense... I ended up drawing black eyeliner dots all over my face to get a better idea haha. I'm thinking I'll get teardrops on both sides, and shark bites and angel bites or just canine. It's gonna be go big or go home on this one haha xD
DeleteNice post but wether or not a person get a facial piercing or ear or nose . its down to the person personal preference. There's no professional opinion weather it suit your face or not .unless your a trained plastic surgeon with masters . yet your opnitated on other peoples faces n what's suit them or not . fuck what people say and just do it . cause nobody gives a fuck wether your looking weird or modified and all that jazz.why follow the pigeon parade n get what everyone else has ha Peirced. Be your own fucking uniqueness. Lu's you wouldn't need anybody else's opinion!
ReplyDeleteI never said it wasn't your choice on what to do with your own face and I never professed to be offering anything but my own opinion. I don't have a masters in plastic surgery nor is that a degree available in my country and I never claimed to have any qualifications. All I have is decent spatial intelligence, critical thinking, and a bunch of interested people who want to hear my opinion. I don't think there's anything wrong with asking people for advice before making a big decision nor do I think the decision is somehow less your own for asking for ideas. Thankfully you don't need to listen to me.
DeleteHi, I love this post! I've been looking for something like this for a while, and I'm surprised you're still replying to comments! I have wanted a facial piercing for a long time, but I have no idea what I should get. I'm really into lip piercings like spider bites, dahlia bites, and medusas, but I'm really open to anything. I'd love your opinion.
ReplyDeleteMy face:

Still replying but slowly. As long as I'm getting more people interested in my opinion than angry at me, why not try to help out? My first instinct would actually be in the direction of an eyebrow piercing which I only say because I would worry that a lip piercing might be overpowering. The more I look though the more I think dahlia bites would actually look great because your lips are your smallest feature and it would actually emphasize them in the right kind of way. I hope any of that in useful and thanks for commenting!
DeleteI am thinking of getting my first face piercing and I want a Labret,Medusa or may be my dimples. I have a round face though and I don't know would look best. Any ideas? http://postimg.org/image/g73r62dcf/
ReplyDeleteHello :) This page is really a help for someone like me, who tends to overthink if a piercing will suit them or not haha You are doing a great job ;)
ReplyDeleteNow if you wanna help me I would be really gratefully. May I show you one photo and tell me what kind of piercing will be ok? Thank you ^^
Hello, I love piercing of any kind with the exception of gauges, so I was wondering if you could tell me of several (facial) that would look nice together or even alone, if possible.

hello! Glad i found this article! :) I'm looking for a secong opinion on a piercing, I'm thinking i would really like a medusa, i love the way small jewelry looks in them, and i want something new...i believe my facial features are pretty soft and balanced, but i don't want to distract from any of them too much....here are a couple reference pics, and know that your advice is much appreciated :) thank you!!!! https://instagram.com/p/uH9yFLKJ9U/ https://instagram.com/p/suyF-BqJ9R/
ReplyDeleteHey I really like your article and was wondering what piercings you think could I would look good with.https://instagram.com/p/xxyjp5Jn0p/ is me.
ReplyDeleteI think this article is complete bullshit. Your saying that nothing but a fucking eyebrow piercing looks good on a girl with unconventional features. Your a piece of shit. Get whatever piercings you want. Get it where ever you want. IT WILL BECOME YOU IN TIME. And its all how you work it really. IF YOU WANT A PIERCING FUCKING GET IT BECAUSE YOU WANT IT. Thank you so much for this fulfilling article. Glad to know that all my piercings look shit on me because I don't have "sweetheart" qualities. Or a "sweet" face. I get where you are coming from with all this but next time just say if your a classic, normal good looking girl, with a small nose and a round face and big eyes. (note: I just feel completely demoralized reading this article. I don't feel that I am even considered a woman, or at least not a good looking one in the slightest and that there is nothing that could suit me. How do you think the few that read this that don't fit your idea of femininity feel about reading this?) Get whatever you fucking want because you're cute anyways. Oh yeah, and unconventional looking girls, you'll look like shit…just get a eyebrow piercing. OH AND FUCK YOU. Unconventional girls look just as badass with any and all piercings! Listen, I have a big nose, and I'm wearing a ring on one nostril, and a post in the other and honestly I thought at first it looked a bit weird, felt I might draw attention to my nose. But I wouldn't be me without them now, I love them, and I don't think it draws any bad attention. I have larger eyes, and smaller, less full lips and I have snakebites, glad to know apparently I shouldn't have those either. I believe strongly, that all this is bullshit and really finding the right piercings for you as a individual is trial and error. Get it, keep it in for a bit, don't like it? Take it out. Maybe try photoshopping or something I don't know. Bottom line is, GET IT IF YOU WANT IT. /rant over.
