Lists, Lists, Lists.

(Based off a post on 1-6-2009)

I have this intense fear that I will forget everything. I make To Do lists like it's my job. I have been keeping journals since I was 14. I use the Flixster application on Facebook to keep track of every movie I see and what I thought of it. There used to have a Bookshelf feature that did the same thing with books but it was converted into another website that I now use to keep track of what I read.

If only they had something for television shows and what seasons you've watched.

As of right now I have seen 1342 movies and read 335 books.

The movies/bookshelf thing is also good for recommending stuff although with most books I rate them as 4 stars. With movies I have a specific system.

<2 Stars: Bad. If I go my whole life never seeing it again, good.
2-3 Stars: Not good but if I have nothing to do but watch TV and it's the only thing on, so it goes.
Anything 3.5 stars and higher means I would recommend it.
3.5 Stars: "It was good. I liked it."
4 Stars: "It was really good. I really liked it."
4.5-5 Stars: "Awesome."

The difference between 4.5 and 5 is almost completely arbituary. If I give something 4.5 instead of 5 there's usually some minor reason.

For instance, I gave "The Green Mile" 4.5 Stars instead of 5 because I will probably never watch it again and if I do, I'll have to leave the room for large portions of it. I pretty much cried throughout the whole thing when I saw it and parts of it also make me furiously angry.

But hey, I've seen plenty of good movies that flat out ruin your day. "Apocalypse Now" ruined my week (and also reunited me with one of my favorite comics series "Fullmetal Alchemist").

And when I tell people I will put a movie on my to-see list, I mean it.

Currently that list has 440 movies on it and it only grows.

That's the problem with lists like that; your work is never done.
